Yoga is much more fun when we do it together!

At Inverted Fitness, we believe good health, fitness and well being is for everyone of ALL ages! Yoga is truly so fabulous for everyone’s body, mind and soul and our children are no exception. Yoga is a really fun way for kids to develop important physical, emotional and cognitive skills in a nurturing, non-competitive environment - something a lot of other kids sport and activities do not offer. There is no judgement, no “right or wrong” way to do poses - just a ton of fun, laughter and smiling!

THERE ARE LOTS OF ACTIVITIES FOR CHILDREN THAT INVOLVE MUSIC AND MOVEMENT BASED ACTIVITIES, SO WHY KIDS YOGA?

  • Kids Yoga offers an incredible range of movements - more so than most other activities

  • Kids Yoga is not only for exercising the body, but the mind and breath too

  • Kids Yoga involves interaction with other - something adult yoga does not include

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF INVERTED KIDS YOGA?

  • It’s FUN FUN FUN - like a LOT of FUN, laughter, happiness and smiling!

  • Improves strength and flexibility

  • Increases kids self confidence and builds a positive self image

  • Increases emotional capacity and resilience

  • Nourishes creativity

  • Teaches kids about self-acceptance and self love

  • Build co-ordination and balance

  • Increases self discipline, self control and concentration

  • Increases awareness of breathing and deepen the breath - a great tool for self-regulation

  • Teaches kids to relax, reduce stress

  • Encourages compassion, generosity and respect.

AND the is now a growing body of research that demonstrates just how fabulous yoga is for people of all ages!

What age can kids start yoga? Literally from the moment they are born! Check out our Mum & Baby Yoga Classes to see how even the youngest of babies can enjoy yoga! These classes are suitable form 4 weeks post natal until the kids are on the move before they graduate into the next class.

WALKING TO 5 YEARS OLD (TAKING INTEREST)

Suitable for toddlers who are confidently walking until they start school. When kids first start this class, mum or dad can stay and play/do yoga too and as they gain more independence can participate themselves (the awesome independence that comes with turning 2!). We use games, singing, dancing, stories to move our bodies through yoga poses involving animals, nature, favourite characters to name a few. Classes are often fast paced and packed full of imaginative play and movements. We go on a heap of yogi journeys around the world to learn about new things all incorporating yoga poses into, games, singing, movement and dancing. With lots of partner and team work involved, this class will encourage your children’s imagination and let it run wild before winding down with breath work and relaxation (through stories and games you can try at home). Parents are encouraged to join in with their younger kids…and older kids parents you can join in too.

5-10 YEAR OLDS

A little less play, a bit more of a challenge but still lots of fun. Building on from our preschool classes, the poses can be more challenging and allow students to get creative and exploring how the poses feel in their own body. They work so hard during their school day to be happy, keep others happy, do well at school and manage any uncomfortable/frustrating emotions - yoga is a great way to help them release this energy in a positive way and teach them self-regulatory, calming and resilience techniques.

TEENS 11-17 (TAKING INTEREST)

This will be a cool class, as kids of this age are too cool for school! Yoga is way more fun when its done together. We will incorporate working in pairs, in groups, acro-yoga and a change to explore how different poses feel in their bodies on that day. A big component of this class will be helping kids focus on being present in their own bodies, self-love and managing the pre-teen hormones and emotional challenges that come with daily life today.
